A bond is an amount of money in cash, property, or surety bond for the purpose of making sure that a person attends all required court appearances. Bond allows an arrested person (defendant) to be released from jail until his or her case is completed.
Inmates can bond out of Madison County Detention Center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at Door 068.
Requirements to post a bond at the Madison County Detention Center:
Valid KY Driver's License
18 years of age or older
Cash bonds must be paid in full amount with cash only.
Types of Bonds
Cash Bond - entire amount of bond must be paid in cash.
Property Bond - value of tangible property must be posted: such as real estate, in order to obtain a release from jail.
Surety Bond - a person is able to sign defendant out of jail (no money required)
10% Cash Bond - only 10 % of the bond amount is required to be paid in cash
ROR - (Release on Recognizance) defendant may sign themselves out for release, with entire responsibility for showing up to their court appearances. (no money required)
